We're Engaged!
It's official! Brian and I are getting married! Turning thirty has been the best birthday ever.
The Story of the Party: First of all, Friday night was lots of fun. Brian went to a lot of trouble planning my "surprise" birthday party. I knew he was planning something but I wasn't sure when or where. Brian had fun making me guess and by the time Tuesday came along I was thoroughly confused since I was sure my party would be on Saturday but then Robin reminded me that her and Erica would be at a wedding in Victoria. To my delight, he spilled the beans about the party details a few days in advance as he knew I would want to know. He took care of all the details including the arrangements to have Grandma B. look after Evan so I could enjoy myself sans baby. Thank-you to everyone who came out on Friday. It meant a lot to me to have all of the people that I care about most in my life there with me to celebrate.
The Story of the Engagement: Saturday night, Grandma B watched Evan again so Brian could take me out to Pearl on the Rock for dinner. The perfect place to go for a night that I will remember for the rest of my life. We had a really nice dinner, everything was perfect as it is everytime we go there. No detail was overlooked and we enjoyed the first real date we've had since the birth of Evan. After dinner Brian suggested we walk out on the Pier for a bit before heading home. We stopped not too far out due to the fact that I was wearing heals that kept getting stuck between the planks. Then all I remember is feeling like I was going to be sick as I realized that Brian was taking something out of his inside jacket pocket. I don't remember what he said after that... I had to ask him later on what he said. All I remember is that he was afraid of dropping the ring in the ocean so I told him to put it on me while I held my other hand underneath in case it fell and of course I said yes!
This morning I woke up on my thirtieth birthday and as I had breakfast in bed with my future husband and my adorable son I realized how lucky I am and that all of a sudden everything feels right. Thank you Brian for making this weekend so special for me and for all the trouble you go through to ensure that I know I'm loved and that I'm always happy. I promise to always remember that relationships take work and that ours is worth the effort. I'm looking forward to growing with you and I will be honored to be your wife.
