This is going to HURT
It's official. Big Daddy B is back at it after a 2 year lay off. I really want Evan to grow up with a great appreciation of sport and of education. Erin being the scholastic type and me being the athletic type, I decided that I should get back to my love of triathlon. Training for fun is great but sooner or later you have to throw down the money and actually enter a race, which I did this morning. As a primer, the whole family is going to enter a run/walk in Victoria on Father's day. Well I am the only sucker that would do the 8km run and the rest of the family (Grandpa sitting on the sidelines watching) will be doing the 3km walk. The run is a great way to see where I am fitness wise and also a great way to get a bit faster. If you want to be fast, racing is the best way.
The interesting part is that I now have the little guy around and I do not want to take any time away from him so I will have to make my training as invisible as possible to the family. What does that mean, well take a look at the title of this entry. "THIS IS GOING TO HURT" Riding to work 2 times a week, 30km each way (weather permitting) and yes the ride will start at 5:30am. Swimming at the pool on non-ride days @ 5:00 am. Getting a speed workout for running at lunch once a week. Running can be done at night when I get home on swimming days. Hopefully do a 2 hour ride on Saturday mornings between feedings first thing in the mornings and Sundays long run between feedings in the morning. All this for my love of triathlon. One of the reasons for typing this on here is so that it will keep me honest for as long as possible.
I can not wait for Evan to see his dad racing again and have him and Erin on the sidelines cheering for me. I want to be a great role model for Evan growing up and really want him to understand how fitness can play an important part in life. For me it helped with a lot of bad influences growing up. I have never had a cigarette, never smoked anything else and never taken any drugs. Part of the reason for that was my involvement with sports growing up. Lucky for me I had a mom and dad that saw the importance of sport as well and lucky for me I had a dad that took the time to be my coach in soccer and baseball growing up. Actually my parents were great this way. Early dinners to get everyone to practice on time. Mom getting me to swim lessons on time and always having one of them at every single game growing up.
Thanks Mom and Dad for the great influence this way and hopefully I can give this same gift to my son now.

Wow, I'm tired just thinking about how you're going to do all this. When will you wash the car?

Well I just went through the whole blog of the days I missed while I was in Germany. What a lot of changes!! He's just getting cuter and cuter and it seems like you guys were meant for this family thing. Gee, if I was single I would move in so I wouldn't miss all the smiles. (Scary thought eh?) I'm so glad you guys keep everything so current.
