MOTHER'S DAY 2007. THE BEST MOTHER IN THE WORLD!

Big Daddy B - Well today was Mother's Day and really this is the Mother's day that I really wanted to spoil Erin. Last year we were both in a daze still since we were only parents for a few months and especially Erin being so tired all the time and having to do a majority of the work, she was not really able to enjoy it a lot. Well this year I thought that I would go over board with Erin and really spoil her.

I have to say that I honestly think in my heart that Erin is the best mother in the world. I know a lot of mothers that do an amazing job (my mother for one and Erin's mother) and our friend who are mothers all do an amazing job but when I see Erin with Evan every day, I can not for the life of me picture a better mother.

So I decided that this year we would start Mother's day early. Last weekend the Tommy Hilfiger Outlet store near use was having a friends and family sale. I shop all the time in that store due to the great prices and close location (makes it easy for a guy to get thing). I took Erin into the store and she really wanted a nice pair of sunglasses. They were there and I had told Erin that she could get them for Mother's day and that this would be a gift from Evan to her. What I did not tell her is that after we finished shopping that whatever she had in her hand, I would pay for so that she did not have to worry about it. Well I think Erin went back to grab a few items but she was so happy at her early Mother's day surprise. What I did not tell her at this point is that there was a lot more to come.

So on Friday night I told Erin that Mother's deserve a Mother's Day Weekend and not just a Mother's day.

When I picked up Evan on Friday from daycare, June (Evan's amazing daycare woman) had done up these poems for all the moms and had the children do hand prints on them. I helped June put Evan's hand prints on the sheet and we headed home. When Erin got home I asked her to get a beer from the fridge and when she saw the poem and Evan's hand prints, she started to cry. It was tears of joy as it was a great start to the Mother's Day Weekend.

On Saturday morning Erin went off to work and Big Daddy B and LIL E were on the job. We headed out to SPA UTOPIA to pick up a gift certificate (Erin loves the place). Erin received a gift certificate at Christmas from me and I think she still has some money from that so I wanted to get another one for her so that she can go on a Sunday for the whole day and that I would look after Evan that day so she could just relax and enjoy being pampered. The next stop was to Safeway for a Mother's Day cake that said Happy Mother's Day Erin. Erin loves cake from Safeway so it was a sure bet she would love this gift. Back in the car and down to Save On Foods for a big bouquet of flowers with LILIES as these are Erin's favorite flowers. We then headed inside to get Erin's favorite candy, SMARTIES. After that we headed to the card section and Evan picked out a beautiful card for Erin and I did as well.

So we headed home to beat Erin home from work. I set up the Flowers, Cake and Smarties on the table so when she came home from work she would see it all. The look on Erin's face was great as she thought that I had already done enough for her with the shopping and now this. I was trying not to laugh as I still had a lot more in store for her and she did not even know about the SPA UTOPIA gift yet. HA HA.

Sunday morning I got up early and grabbed the baby monitor so that Erin could sleep in. Well Evan decided to wake up and started to scream. He has been having some rash issues on his bottom and it really hurts. Erin helped me with this and then I sent her back to bed while Evan and daddy went downstairs to play. Evan was very good and we actually had an hour sleep together on the couch. At 8am (this is a record for Erin to be able to sleep in this late) I took Evan upstairs and went back downstairs to get Erin's breakfast in bed ready. I took up her first cup of coffee to her and went back downstairs to cook. I was cooking breakfast for Erin when I was beckoned upstairs to refill her coffee cup. The life of a man servant. It is not as easy as it sounds let me tell you. So back down stair to finish my cooking. I finish up the eggs with two styles of cheese melted in and her toast, took one of the Lillie's out of the vase and ran back upstairs to pour a bit more coffee and to heat up the coffee to her liking. So with the eggs, toast, Lily and coffee on the tray, man servant delivered breakfast in bed to Erin. Not a big deal for some but this was Erin's very first breakfast in bed ever. What were the other guys thinking before I came along. Well lucky for me they were all idiots as this leaves me a lot of room to work my magic on this beautiful woman.

After breakfast we decided to head over to the mall so Erin could get some shoes for work. Again I did not tell Erin all the rules for Mother's Day Weekend. Rule number 2 is that the mother of my child can not buy anything on her weekend. So Erin found some great shoes for her friends Robin's wedding in August and when she went to pay for them Man Servant sprang into action to pay for his beautiful woman's shoes. The offer was still there for Erin to pick up some new work shoes but after 6 shoe stores (yes guys, I went into 6 shoe stores with her) we did not find her any new shoes for work.

I think in the end that we had one of the most amazing weekends ever as a family. I loved spoiling Erin as she deserves so much for being the best mother in the world. I can not express how impressed I am with the way Erin is with Evan and I learn from Erin every day on how to be the best parent in the world. Evan (and I) are so very lucky to have Erin in our lives and I can not wait till next year when Evan can actually say, Happy Mother's Day Weekend to Erin and he can actually tell her that he loves her. That will be just amazing.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY ERIN. YOU ARE SIMPLY THE BEST MOTHER EVER.
