Evan's First Time in the Pool

ERIN: Evan went in the pool for the first time today. He seemed to not mind it until the water got up above his belly button. The water was a little cool I think.
Evan and I spent the morning with Jen and Anna. Evan wanted to be there for moral support while Anna got her shots. He wasn't much help though since he slept through the whole thing (after playing with Anna's toys of course). Jen and Anna came to our mom's group today and then we hung out at the pool. Anna seemed to have forgotten all about the shots by then.
DADDY B: I was so excited about coming home today. We went to the pool the other day and Evan U. (inside joke), Chris and Carolynn's son was in the pool. So what do parents do. Erin went out the next day and bought some little swimmers for our Evan (Evan C.) Wednesday he had his shots so we thought that we would not go in the pool that day. So Thursday was the big day for Evan to get in the pool. I rushed home, got changed and headed to the pool to meet up with everyone. I get to the pool and I'm so excited to jump in with Evan. STOP! He needed to eat first. Darn it all the heck (family content on this site and not what I really was saying in my head). I want to get in the pool with my son. So after standing over Erin while she fed Evan, I finally get the go ahead to get him in the pool. 1 hour after eating is a load of poo poo. 1 minute after eating in our family. So I slowly walked in with Evan in my hands and was very surprised. He did not cry or fuss at all. So being the typical dad I am, I kept going deeper and deeper till he did let out a little hello noise. I did not realize it till a couple of minutes later what the cry was for. Alright ladies you might not understand this one but the guys will. When you get into the pool and the water gets to a certain height, things happen and I should have known better. It is that section between the bum and belly button. When you get into a cool or cold body of water, sometimes the shock is a bit much. I am very used to that shock but seeing how it was Evans first time dealing with this shock it was a bit funny to see the expression on his face. So after the initial shock I was able to get him in the water to about his nipples then he was not having any more of it. So again being a typical dad, I leaned him back to soak his whole back and a bit of his head and again he was alright with it. So the plan now is to take him as much as possible to the pool to get him used to it so we can spend a lot more time in the water. WOW THIS IS A LONG STORY. I can see it now, Erin will always be on the beach sun tanning while Evan and I are in the water for most of the day. A happy compromise as I hate sun tanning. I can not wait.
