Growing Up So Fast

There have been so many changes in Evan in the past couple of weeks. He brings his hands together in front of his face and looks at them, he has way more drool and is always blowing spit bubbles and raspberries. He wants to put everything in his mouth. He always wants to chew (or gum) his bib or his blanket or anything he can bring up to his mouth, including both fists at the same time since he can put his hands together now. He coos and babbles and smiles all the time. He can take his soother out of his mouth and then put it back in. At first I thought this was a fluke but I've seen him do this on several occasions now. His new thing is lifting his bum and legs way up off the floor when he's on his back. Sometimes he'll do that and then roll right over onto his side.

As far as the tummy time goes, I saw Baby Condin across the street lifting his head and chest up off the floor the other day and I was concerned that our Evan couldn't do it as well but I discovered later that evening that it's all about the arm placement. If I position his arms in closer to his body so he's resting on his forearms more he is able to do it too. But like Brian tells me, it's not a competition. This morning though, Evan really surprised me. I put him on his tummy and he rolled right over onto his back. I was so shocked so I put him back on his tummy and he did it again and with such ease. He had this huge smile on his face like he was so proud of himself. Amazing how fast he is developing!
We're taking Evan to get his 2nd set of shots today...not looking forward to it. I feel like this time it will be worse since he is more alert and his cry is so much stronger now, he even has tears if he gets upset enough so this could be hard on the three of us. I am looking forward to getting him weighed though. He hasn't been weighed in 3 or 4 weeks so I'm curious to see just how big this little man is.

Update: Evan weighed just over 15 lbs. today and was 24 1/4 inches long. He has now more than doubled his birthweight and is 4 inches longer.
The vaccinations went well. I think it helps knowing what to expect and there were only 3 shots this time. Also, I think being held still makes him cry more than the shot itself... or a combination of both. We have to do this again in 2 months.

Wow Erin. As soon as I saw the pic of him with his hands together I could see you in his face so much. It made my heart flutter. I'll have to get Kristy to dig up the picture I'm thinking of.
