EVAN'S NEW SKILL
BIG DADDY B - This long weekend (very long for me having 5 days off) has been an amazing weekend. I can not remember having this much time off with Evan since Christmas I guess so it has been a long time. Normal weekends just seem to fly by as there is so much to do when you are not at work and with Erin working on the Saturday, it only really gives me 1 day with the family.
On Saturday after Erin got home, Evan was in the kitchen and Erin went upstairs to take care of a few things. I was on the computer when I caught Evan out of the corner of my eye heading for the stairs. I thought that Erin had the baby gate in place (we normally step right over it) but this was not the case. Evan made a bee line for the stairs. Normally he just stops and does not go any further. Well Saturday was the start of something new. He climbed the first two stairs in seconds. He has done this before but not very well and we have always been right there incase he falls. I called out to Erin to show her what he had done. Erin poked her head out to look down and the next thing the both of us knew Evan was half way up the stairs and making his way for the top.
We both looked at each other in amazement as Evan had never shown any interest in going up the stairs at all. Well maybe just the first two to get onto the landing to grab his soother from the travel bag or a treat from there.
It took Evan less than 30 seconds to get to the top and it was effortless. He had never done this before and for some reason, I guess climbing stairs just clicked in his head. It was amazing to watch. He just flew up the stairs and never stopped till he got to the top.
Erin and I have seen so much more advancement in the last few weeks than he have seen in a long time.
As you know Evan has started to walk but in the last week and a half, it has gone from just barely walking to walking everywhere in the house and not using the walls or furniture very much. He could not turn very well and could only go straight ahead (ike me trying to skate but thank goodness he does not have to crash into the boards to stop). He now just stops on a dime and turns around and heads back the other way. The only thing that Evan can not do yet but I am sure will happen in the very near future is he can not get up and walk.
Well back to partenting (just so everyone knows DADDY DAYCARE is dead), I do not do daycare but I love parenting. We have someone that does daycare and she is amazing.
