THE NEW HOUSE
In typical Brian and Erin fashion, when we decided to do something it normally happens very quickly and works out in our favor most times. I think this is the theme for our lives together as it seems that everything we do together happens very quickly and we never just take one step at a time.
So why did we decided to buy a new house? There are lots of reasons and none of them in any particular order.
Dave and Caroline moved out of the complex into their new home. Well when they took the wine fridge, it left a big hole in our wine consumption. Need a bigger home to have more wine in stock.
Chris and Carolynn decided to start looking for a new home outside of the complex which would mean that Erin, Evan and I would be the only surviving members of the WINE TRIFECTA left in the complex and that was just not going to fly.

We would love to have a bigger back yard than we have in the townhouse. Well anything is bigger than the 3 X 3 sq ft patch of grass that we currently have with the 2 foot round drain in the middle.
It seems that during my buying the townhouse, Erin moving in and then us having Evan (well Erin had Evan and I just helped out a bit in the beginning) that we now have enough furniture and furnishings to do a 3000 sq ft. We currently only live in a 1350 sq ft townhouse. I find this very funny. So does that mean when we have lived in the new home for 5-10 years that we will have enough stuff to furnish a 6000 sq ft home. God I hope not. Well unless it is a few more bikes.
I think the big factor in moving has been the fact that we would really like to do everything on our own and not have to follow too many rules that a Strata home would have. I would love to plant some flowers in a garden area that I want and not what I am told that I should have. Anyone that really knows me, knows that I am not a big follower of rules and I think after 3 years of living this way, it is time to follow my own rules (Erin's rules as I am a guy and have not choice).
Another very big factor is that we can not live in the neighborhood that we currently live in with the price of houses the way they are. The same size house that we just bought would be 3/4 of a million in our area which is just not going to happen if I want to retire at the age of 80.
After talking with Erin, we decided that we would look around to see what was available. We both felt that it was the perfect time to sell the townhouse and still be able to afford a newer home in a nice area not too far away from where we are now. We might not be able to do this in a year from now as it seems that the housing prices are just going to continue to climb for the next few years and we can do it now where we might not be able to do it down the road.
So about the new house. Well we do have pictures but just do not have much time to post them. I hope that since I have taken the time to do this write up that Erin will have some time in the new few days to put the pictures on the blog.
The new house is 3000 sq ft. and the back yard is about 30' long and about 15' deep. A lot better than the drain and few blades of grass we have now.

UPSTAIRS - 4 bedrooms and a laundry room.
Master bedroom is 15' X 13' with a very nice ensuite c/w soaker tub and shower.
Bedroom #2 is about 12' X 12" and currently pink. I would like this to be Evan's room as it is the biggest room next to ours.
Bedroom #3 is about 11' X 10' and is a new earth tone. Currently a toy room and might just stay that way.
Bedroon #4 is 9' X 9' and currently baby blue. This will most likely become the office upstairs with the computer and desk.
Laundry Room - yes we have a room now and not a closet. Very nice and with some shelving added, this will be way better than the closet we currently have our washer and dryer in.
MAIN FLOOR- Family room, nook, powder room, kitchen, dining room and sitting area.
Kitchen - this is beautiful and has an island and pantry which is very nice. Looks out into the back yard.
Nook - not very big but this is where the double french doors lead you outside to the patio.
Family room - this is so amazing and one of the main things that I love about the house. It has a feature wall with a gas fireplace, cut out for a 37" LCD TV (already measured up) and a large cut out over top to hand a picture in. I think these area is about 15' X 14' so very nice.
Powder Room - yes we now have a bathroon on the main level. This is very nice.
Dining room - this is towards the front of the house and has a nice cut out for the buffet that we just bought.
Sitting area - This is the only area in the house that we do not have furnishings for. I think we might get a couple of chairs, a small table and a nice lamp to have a quiet area in the house. This is right at the front of the house with a big window and will be perfect for the Christmas tree.
BASEMENT - Rec Room, Bathroom, Bedroom #5, workout room and den.
Rec Room - this room is huge and another reason why I am in love with this house. 16.5' X 15' which means that we can put a pool table in if we decide too. I am really pushing for this as I have always wanted to have a pool table in my house and would use it every day after Evan was in bed. I love to shoot pool and it would be great when we have company over. Dream yes but so was the house until a week ago.
Bathroom - yes we also have a full bathroom in the basement now.
Bedroom#5 - the guess bedroom is about 10' X 10' and will be nice and quiet for family and friends.
Workout area - this is about 11' X 11' which we are not sure what to do with yet.
Den - 10' X 11" which again we are not sure what to do with. Maybe a fooseball table or maybe a table tennis set up would be nice. Hey I like these things.
So that is the house.
Bedrooms - 5
Bathrooms - 4
Total rooms in the house 14
Total Square footage of house - 3002 sq ft
This is a bigger jump than I thought we would make but the price was below market value (yes we are very lucky we moved quickly and were at the right place at the right time) as a newer house for sale in the area is going for up to $50,000 more than we bought. INSTANT EQUITY. Have to love it.
Well that is the story of our lives over the last few weeks. We have been cleaning like crazy at the townhouse and will be having some showings sooner than we expected. I hope that people like the townhouse as Erin has put a lot of effort into this place. I have to say that it will sell for more now that Erin has put so much effort into it. If it was left to me, it would look the same today as it did the day I moved in and lucky for me, Erin has improved it way more than I thought it would ever be. Thank you Erin. You are the best.
